Are there soccer shin guards that also protect the back and sides of your leg?

Ive broken my leg twice playing on a high youth level and want to make sure it doesn’t happen again…

Not that I’m aware of but you could make your own. All you would need is some thermoplastic material. They have low temperature thermoplastic that softens in hot water and you could trim some of it to form a guard for the sides of your leg. I don’t think you would be able to run if it enclosed the back of your legs but it might. You would need some adhesive Velcro hook and some velcro loop so that you can strap it against your shin guards. I was thinking about making custom shin guards when my daughters were playing soccer, since I use thermoplastic material in our office all the time when making hand splints.

Does it seem like soccer aficionados speak a language all their own? It sure seems like it to me, and I’ve been playing the game for over 20 years. I put an article on the front page of this blog to help explain the most common soccer terms in plain English. Hopefully this list will help soccer moms everywhere (and soccer dads too, for that matter)to better understand what their little athlete is talking about! Click Here For Access: Soccer Terms.
