Do you or your daughter have an ACL injury?

Is it something that is really holding you (or your daughter) back from playing soccer?

1.) Introduction

Soccer Knee Injuries can be hard to deal with emotionally and physically. The knee pain and the instability that is brought on after an injury has occurred can be a very serious physical let down. However, emotionally, you may have to watch (or your daughter may have to watch) from the sidelines if nothing is done about the knee injury. This article discusses the use of well designed knee braces, to help get back in the game.

2.) Women & ACL Injuries

Unfortunately, many studies have shown that it is more common for women to suffer an ACL injury, than it is for a male to suffer the same injury. This does not seem to be fair and we can sympathize with female athletes on this level. After such an injury has occurred it is time to think about how to get back in the game. Sure, there will definitely need ot be some healing that needs to take place, but what if a knee brace could help?

3.) Knee Braces For Soccer

Quality made knee supports have helped soccer players secure a knee injury all over the world. If you or your daughter want to continue playing soccer, it is time to think about the use of one of these supports. Many exist and we are going to help you figure out which one is the best for you, without naming brand names.

When you think about getting a knee support for soccer, it is important to remember two basic things. First, a knee brace that is made from elastic type materials (usually neoprene or drytex) can be helpful for mild types of injuries. They can act as a reminder to you not to make certain movements that can hurt your knee. Elastic style knee sleeves can help reduce pain as well. – However, if you have a more serious knee problem, something more severe than a mild injury level, you need to think about other supports.

Hinged knee braces are the next step up when it comes to support for soccer. They come in different styles. Most of them are designed to allow the movements you need for soccer, while helping to prohibit dangerous movements that can further your injury level. Speak to your brace specialist about which one is best for you.

* This is health oriented information. We have seen knee braces help so many people, but we do have to refer you to your physician for medical advice for your particular situation.

knee injury in 15 yr. old? x-ray- says?

x-ray report says-
frontal and lateral films of the knee demonstrate mild effusion, Irregularity of the anterior tibial epiphysis noted. ???

My son has complained about his knee hurting for sometime. 2 months ago, playing his knee cap popped completely out to the side, and he pushed it back in after he was unable to move or deal with the severe pain. It was looked at by ped. and she said we will watch it, and that his knee cap has way to much play / movement. Now 2 days ago, he injured the same Knee playing soccer in gym. We went to ER and had x-rays/ results above , but basically she told me she thought he might of torn the ligaments and we will see Orthopedic surgeon Friday. Just curious what the doctor / x-ray terms from report mean? They did put a brace on and crutches till then! Do you think he will need surgery by these finding, or will he continue to have problems with this knee??????

effusion is just a little swelling.. epiphysis, is the rounded end of a bone.. where the joint is basicalled.. so what the doc is saying by anterior tibial epiphsis is: the front epiphysis of the tibia shows an irregularity.. the tibia is the front bone that connects your knee and ankle.. this irregularity could be acute onset or it may have been something he was born with.. furthermore, if they didn’t splint it, or if they haven’t done surgery.. then i wouldn’t worry about it..

Does it seem like soccer aficionados speak a language all their own? It sure seems like it to me, and I’ve been playing the game for over 20 years. I put an article on the front page of this blog to help explain the most common soccer terms in plain English. Hopefully this list will help soccer moms everywhere (and soccer dads too, for that matter)to better understand what their little athlete is talking about! Click Here For Access: Soccer Terms.
