A Soccer Worldcup Profile Of The Argentina Soccer Team

Argentina’s Soccer Worldcup portfolio shows an impressive history. 1970 was their only non-world soccer qualifying year. For whatever reasons, they made the decision to miss three Soccer Worldcups; but they have participated in every Soccer Worldcup since 1974 and in 2002, they were eliminated for the first and only time, in the first round.

As the 1978 Argentina Worldcup and the 1986 FIFA Worldcup Mexico champions, La Albiceleste faced a chain of confronting 2010 world soccer qualifying matches. However having defeated many impediments, the Argentine soccer team are focused on claiming the World Football Cup 2010 for the first time in 24 years. Fortunately this goal may well become a realism as coach, Diego Armando Maradona, has superior players in his squad (including a number of players accountable for the team’s quarter finals game at the Germany 2006 World Cup).

Soccer Worldcup Players Worthy of Recognition

The Argentine soccer team is home to one of the world’s finest football players, Lionel Messi. So it’s not unexpected that they’re relying strongly on him to direct them to success at the South Africa Worldcup 2010.

Supporting him in midfield is their captain and powerhouse, Javier Mascherano. Let’s also not overlook Juan Sebastian Veron, who not only has massive experience, but also has a point to make after receiving criticism during Argentina’s inadequate performance at the 2002 Korea/Japan World Cup. Lionel Messi has the most appearances in Soccer Wordcup matches, having played 18 games. The top goal scorers are Sergio Agüero, Lionel Messi and Juan Román Riquelme (4).

Argentina’s Leadership

Born October 30, 1960 in Lanús, Argentina, Diego Maradona is seen as one of the world’s finest footballer’s, along with Pelé of Brazil. He’s now tasked with conveying his skill, know-how and excellence as a player to the Soccer Worldcup team he now leads.

Maradona is recognized as a cutthroat, spontaneous and down-the-line kind of guy. As a player, he was nothing short of brilliant. He escalated through the ranks with his supreme moment being at Napoli in 1984.

However, in 1991 an enduring drug problem led him to a 15 month ban. Later at the 1994 Soccer Worldcup he was kicked out as a result of positive testing for a banned substance. As a consequence of his addiction problems he suffered critical health issues in 2004 and 2007.

After a nine year break, it came as a surprise when he was announced as the successor to Alfio Basile, who was discharged due to inferior performance. But, to date Maradona hasn’t performed much better, with rumblings of his replacement. With South Africa Worldcup 2010 around the corner, he has some work to do.

Argentina FIFA Soccer Worldcup Accomplishments

- Overall the Argentine soccer team has played four FIFA World Cup Finals. In 1978 they beat Netherlands and Germany in 1986. But they were defeated by Uruguay in 1930 and by Germany in 1990.
- The South Africa Worldcup 2010 is Argentina’s 20th Soccer Worldcup appearance and their tenth consecutive appearance.
- Diego Maradona played in four successive finals between 1982 and 1994 and now leads the team to the South Africa Worldcup 2010 in his first role as a coach.

How can I make the highschool soccer team?

How can I impress the highschool soccer coaches? Im a sophomore and our team is one of the best in state.

don’t try to make the amazing 50 yard through ball or any spectacular play unless you’re a real playmaker, during tryouts it is very important to play to your strengths, if you are good at short passes, stick to it, if you are good at running off the ball, do that, if you are good at dribbling, show it off, good luck

Does it seem like soccer aficionados speak a language all their own? It sure seems like it to me, and I’ve been playing the game for over 20 years. I put an article on the front page of this blog to help explain the most common soccer terms in plain English. Hopefully this list will help soccer moms everywhere (and soccer dads too, for that matter)to better understand what their little athlete is talking about! Click Here For Access: Soccer Terms.
