Ps2 Console : Still A Firm Favorite With Gamers

Over the past two decades, gaming consoles have become immensely popular, and now people all over the world like to play games in their free time. One of the most famous among the many consoles released in that time is the Sony Playstation 2 (or PS2 for short). Though this console is now 10 years old, it still remains very popular because it, and its games, are so much cheaper than the newer PS3.

The PS2 was released in the year 2000, and has gone on to sell more than 70 million units worldwide. It has competed against many other well known gaming consoles, yet still remains one of the best selling gaming machines of all time. The reasons for its lasting success are partly because of its competitive price, partly because of the great selection of games that can be played on it, and partly because of the wide array of game enhancing accessories which can be used with it.

Of the accessories available for the PS2, these are the most popular:

Sony PS2 Multitap : An area where PS2 lacks is the number of players playing at one time. Unlike Xbox or GameCube, the PS2 only has two built in controller ports. However, by buying this PS2 accessory you can engage in a four player gaming session.

PS2 Dual Shock Controller : This controller provides a more spontaneous gaming experience, as you actually get to feel the what is happening in the game. After using one, you will find it slightly boring to use the standard PS2 controller again.

The graphics are obviously not as good as the games now being brought out on the PS3, but the level of game play is of an equal standard. The good news is that they are at least half the price, and you can get some really, really cheap on eBay.

So, if you want a great console, and at a very reasonable price, then go for the PS2!
