Why is soccer so popular?

In this articles, I will share to everyone about some backgrounds of the game. From searching around, soccer had been played very long time ago in several countries such as England, China, etc. The professional game rules had come from England in1863 by the English Football Assocciation (FA). Nowsaday when people talked about the invention of soccer, they mention to England. These rules still apply in recent games even though some of them had been changed.

Thoughout the world, soccer is played everywhere. European and and South American countries are known for their best records for this sport. Soccer is governed by FIFA  (abbre. in French) which is represent the International Federation of Association Football. FIFA is responsible for the organization and governance of football’s major international tournaments such as World Cup, Confederation Cup and govern all countries’ FAs (Association of Football). The FIFA’s current  president is Sepp Blatter. The biggest brand of FIFA is called UEFA (Union of European Football Association) which controlled the whole system of European FA countries. Unlike FIFA, UEFA governs at club level such as salary cap, player transfer, etc. The biggest  soccer competition of UEFA is the champion league where all best clubs around Europe compete for the best prize at the club level. The current president is Michel Platini.

Next , I will talk about some the best countries around the world who have won many highest prizes in football. In South America, Brazil is one of the best “futbol” countries. They are the most World Cup champion (5 times) who can win with the beautiful soccer style. Their players have best skills and play like a perfect team. Does it seem like soccer aficionados speak a language all their own? It sure seems like it to me, and I’ve been playing the game for over 20 years. I put an article on the front page of this blog to help explain the most common soccer terms in plain English. Hopefully this list will help soccer moms everywhere (and soccer dads too, for that matter)to better understand what their little athlete is talking about! Click Here For Access: Soccer Terms.
