Do any American chain restaurants (Uno’s, Applebees TGIF etc) have Fox Soccer Channel Plus (formerly Setanta)?
Hoping to catch some games this afternoon which are only on Fox Soccer Channel Plus. However this is a premium channel so normally only specialist bars have it, but I don’t have the means of getting to one of those today. Does anyone know if places like 99 or Uno’s etc have this channel? I’m on the East Coast, Boston area.
It usually varies from restaurant to restaurant. You should just call ahead to see. And ask to talk to a manager, because a lot of the people who usually answer the phones are new and usually don’t know or will just shrug you off or say “yeah sure we show sports here.” I’ve had luck at Chili’s and local places. If you don’t have any luck with the chains, try a local sports bar…they usually just buy the whole shebang sports package so they can show anything.
Does it seem like soccer aficionados speak a language all their own? It sure seems like it to me, and I’ve been playing the game for over 20 years. I put an article on the front page of this blog to help explain the most common soccer terms in plain English. Hopefully this list will help soccer moms everywhere (and soccer dads too, for that matter)to better understand what their little athlete is talking about! Click Here For Access: Soccer Terms.
