In addition to the academic demands, expense and a family’s budget are important factors to consider when enrolling for college. Some students who are talented players in sports, such as football, aim for a spot in a school’s sports programs. Try outs and assessments start in high school, in soccer as well as in other sports. For all involved in high school soccer recruiting, therefore, information on college soccer and other important details.
In a soccer match, the second defender gets into play when the first defender is passed. He then takes over as first defender, and ideally one of the third defenders afterwards become second defender. A soccer team should be organized in such a way as to make this transition as smooth as possible. The typical ideal distance between the second and first defender would be roughly six meters, though this should vary in different situations. The most important factor to be considered here is the opponent’s speed. A fast moving opponent moving fast would require a longer distance. With a stationary opponent on the other hand, the second and first defender may unite and function as two first defenders.
The third defender is tasked to provide deep cover to the other players. He is usually situated in a stand-off position relative to the first and second defenders. He surveys the whole field, watching out for new opponents moving up, and covering vulnerable gaps in the line if the first and second defenders are passed. While the responsibilities of first and second defenders tend to be related, the third defenders’ task is very different when it comes to the zone defense and man-to-man defense. Their organization also varies with the given formation.
It is very important to be as professional as possible during high school soccer recruiting. All received emails and letters from schools should be considered, even if they are not part of the top colleges or first in college soccer tounaments. Coaches who don’t receive any response from letters will naturally assume the student is not interested. Cultivate and maintain respect for all involved as much as possible. There may be no second chances when making first impressions with college coaches and administrators.
Fortunately, the Internet has proved to be a useful venue for both athletes and coaches looking for new talent.
