Clinical Pilates & Yoga Treatment Approach

 

Are you recovering from an injury and looking for a focused and controlled way to rehab before returning to your regular activities? Do you want to recommence a group fitness program but require some personalized guidance and assistance to become more connected with your own body first? Perhaps after an injury you need some reassurance that you are ready for more extensive exercise activities? Stephanie can help you with one-on-one individualized sessions using Clinical Pilates.

 

STOTT Pilates® exercises were designed in collaborations with a team of Physical Therapists, Sports Medicine and Exercises Professionals to incorporate modern exercise principles, and apply current practices in biomechanics, rehabilitation and athletic performance enhancement to provide an approach that helps to restore the natural curves of the spine and rebalance the muscles around the joints.

 

Using Pilates equipment such as the Reformer, Trapezius Table/ Cadillac and chair, more emphasis will be placed on pelvic and scapular stabilization, and a more integrated approach to improve motor control. Together we will use the basic principles to design a program specific to your individual needs, whether it be more sport-specific training or improving activities of daily living and allow you to return to the outdoor activities you love in this city.

 

• Initial Clinical Pilates session Port Moody or Vancouver, BC: 60 min session

 

This session includes a postural assessment to establish your patterns of muscle strength vs. weakness, mobility vs. stability at various joints so I can design a program, which will encourage better postural control and overall alignment.

 

Whether you are new to Pilates or have been practicing for a while, you will receive a review of the basic principles and how they may apply to your postural assessment. The 60 min session of Clinical Pilates uses Pilates equipment such as a reformer, tower, chair and barrels along with traditional physiotherapy techniques to tailor a rehabilitation program specific for your needs.

 

• Subsequent Clinical Pilates sessions in Port Moody or Vancouver BC:  60 min session

 

Subsequent 60min Clinical Pilates visits will build off your initial assessment and establish patterns of muscle strength and flexibility along with improved overall postural control and alignment. Using a combination of Clinical Pilates exercises and physiotherapy techniques tailored to meet your specific needs on the various pieces of Pilates equipment.
